Library Hours
The library is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on school days.
Students are welcome to study, read, and use computers for class assignments.
Special events and activities may occasionally affect the hours of operation.
 
Students visiting the library during class time need three items:
  1. A pass signed by their teacher
  2. A Cabrillo ID card displayed and visible.
  3. An assignment that requires the use of library materials.
Visiting students are expected to work independently and follow library rules.
 

Library Materials
Three books may be checked out with a Cabrillo ID.  Educational videos may also be checked out.
A wide range of non-fiction books, which match curriculum, are available as well as books for
personal and recreational interests. Fiction books of various Genres are available; for example, 
Mystery, Science Fiction, Romance, Sports, Fantasy, etc.
Books in Spanish and a small collection of educational videos are also available.
 
Library Equipment
A photocopy machine can be used for 5 cents/copy.  Printing from the computers is 5 cents per page.
Disk drives are available.  Camcorder and tape recorders are available for classroom use.
 
Library Assistance
The Library Media Teacher and Library Assistant assist students in locating materials and with
the use of computers, databases and newspaper and magazine articles.  Sources for homework
help in person, on-line and by telephone can be supplied.
 
Library Rules
Be Respectful:
  Focus on your own work
  Do not disturb other students
  Before school, after school and during Nutrition and Lunch, students may sit in small groups
  and “hang out,” but are limited to 4 or 6 to a table and are required to use quiet voices.
 
Be Responsible:
   Return books on time
   Keep our library clean - No Gum, Candy, Food or Drinks
 
Be Kind:
  Do the right thing!

Circulation Policies
Books may be checked out for three weeks and may be renewed, unless there is a waiting list.
Late books are assessed at 25 cents per school day.  Reference books are due before the next
school day begins and are assessed $1 per school day if late.  Lost or damaged books will be
charged at the cost of full replacement plus a processing fee.
